Meet our Speakers

 

 

Ed Lenz is senior vice president for public affairs and general counsel of the American Staffing Association. He is the staffing industry’s chief legal advocate and a leading authority on the legal and public policy aspects of staffing. He has testified before Congress, state legislatures, and regulatory agencies, and written and spoken widely, on industry issues. He is the author of the authoritative reference book on the subject of co-employment published by ASA, now in its sixth edition. Before joining ASA in 1989, Lenz served for seven years as vice president and assistant general counsel of Kelly Services in charge of legislative and regulatory affairs and served as chairman of the ASA legislative committee. Prior to that, he served in government and in private law practice in Washington, D.C.

Lori Williams

With a strong background in sales, Lori started her career in the staffing industry in 1986. Her progression through sales and branch management positions with local and national services, to the position of Area Vice President with an international staffing firm, could be described as - "meteoric"!

Lori provided management consulting and training for 43 franchised offices in a five-state region, quickly earning the respect of the franchisees, not only through her knowledge and support, but by the extraordinary results she achieved. With each office providing temporary staffing and 16 of those providing full service staffing, Lori met the enormous challenge of "improving an office's operations and increasing its' profitability", with unrelenting focus and energy. This five-State Region was the number one region for the company in revenues, increasing by over 200% under Lori's guidance.

Lori's 15 years experience with local, national and international companies (Franchise Operations, Direct Hire, Temporary Staffing Services (technical, office services, light industrial), Career Placement, Professional Employment Organizations (PEO), etc), has positioned her perfectly for her career as a management consultant and trainer to the staffing industry.

Lori is results and bottom-line oriented. Creative, as well as self-determined, her impressive credentials include Risk Management Programs, Recruiting Programs, Operations and Sales Training, Leadership, as well as the Design and Implementation of highly successful Operating Structures and Systems for New Offices and Start-up Staffing Services.

Lori believes that "the only constant in life is change...every business will experience periods of growth until it reaches a plateau. At every plateau, decisions for change must be made to inspire growth once more. If a business "stays the same" and the decision for change is not made, a business declines".
